Ø Sri Kodati Venugopal, DHSO,
Mahabubnagar District has informed that Oil palm cultivation is undergoing a
significant expansion in the Mahabubnagar district as part of Telangana's
broader strategy to diversify crops and reduce reliance on edible oil imports.
Ø Based on the 2020 ICAR-Indian Institute of Oil
Palm Research (IIOPR) report, Telangana has substantial oil palm potential,
with over 436,000 hectares identified across several districts.
Ø Out of which Oil palm Potential area
identified by technical team of IIOPR in Mahabubnagar district was 5,000 acres.
Ø As on 26 th January 2026, an area of
4,600 acres was covered in Mahabubnagar district covering 91% of potential area
identified.
Ø Under the administration of Sri Kodati
Venugopal, DHSO, Mahabubnagar District, this district is actively promoting oil
palm cultivation, targeting thousands of acres to increase local edible oil
production under the National Mission on Edible Oils-Oil Palm (NMEO-OP)
